Moneaksekar Khmer

Moneaksekar Khmer

Moneaksekar Khmer publlishes the newspaper named as well Moneaksekar Khmer (Khmer Conscience). It was established in 1994 by the opposition activist Dam Sith, an ardent supporter of the Sam rainsy Party. In 1998, the Ministry of Information ordered a private printing house to stop publishing it, arguing he had not authorized the paper to resume publication after the 1997 Coup ousting Prince Ranarridh. In July 2010, government lawyers filed defamation, disinformation and incitement charges against Dam Sith for a series of articles criticising government officials. Dam Sith then wrote to Prime Minister Hun Sen with a “sincere apology” and promised to stop publishing in exchange for a pardon. The newspaper seemed to not be operating as in 2017.
