Radio

Radio  loses in popularity with the rise of the Internet: it is now only ranked as third media sector after TV and online, reaching out to an audience of 35% .

Highly Fragmented and Medium Concentrated

Although the radio market is medium concentrated (4 most popular radio stations gather 43% of listenership), it is at the same time the most fragmented media sector in Cambodia. According to the Ministry of Information, Cambodia counts 175 radio stations.  9 radio stations are almost equally strong – they all reach out between 3% and 6% Cambodian listenership – with the same influence on public opinion formation. Especially also considering that people use it rather for entertainment purposes than to listen to political programs.

The most popular radio is by far ABC Cambodia Radio (almost 1 Cambodian out of 4 listen to, the most popular radio programs remain Radio Free Asia (RFA) and Voice Of America (VOA), broadcasted throughout the country on 15 different radio stations.
