Marie Christine Saragosse
Marie-Christine Saragosse, 55, is the official owner of the RFI radio station in Cambodia and was granted a broadcasting license by the Ministry of Information in 2013.
She was born in Algeria and arrived in France when she was 4 years old. She has been working in the media industry for the past 28 years and has been the president the France Media Monde Group, to which RFI belongs, since 2013.
RFI Khmer was launched on June 20th, 2013 in Phnom Penh, just a month before the National Assembly elections. It broadcast in Khmer 13 hours per day. Although the Ministry of Information tried to suspend the radio coverage of international radios for the elections, RFI was not affected by it and the Ministry attributed another frequency to RFI to broadcast content in French, a unique case for RFI worldwide, in February 2014. The radio has 5 relays in the country
Both Saragosse’s parents were teachers in France and she graduated from the National School of Administration (ENA) in Paris. She currently lives in Paris.
